Day 1

Hanoi – Ba Be National Park (240km/ approx. 7 hours)

Departure at 8:00 A.M. from our office premises marks the beginning of this motorbike tour. Riding over the Thang Long Bridge, we bid farewell to Hanoi and embrace the picturesque landscapes unfolding before us. Moving north along Highway 3, we reach Thai Nguyen, a city renowned for its tea plantations, for lunch and a visit to the Museum of Cultures of Vietnam Ethnic Groups. Exiting the Red River Delta, we enter the Ba Be National Park, a mountainous haven with captivating colors as the sun sets. A homestay in a traditional stilt house in a Tay village awaits, providing a chance to interact with the friendly locals.

Day 2

Ba Be National Park – Cao Bang (150km/approx. 6 hours)

Nestled within the limestone alpine region, Ba Be National Park provides a delightful breakfast experience hosted by the Tay community. Immerse yourself in the rich ecosystem, embark on a trek to the enchanting Dau Dang waterfall, and enjoy a serene cruise back on a local boat. Continuing our journey, we head to Cao Bang, a city embraced by lush vegetation and surrounded by challenging mountain passes. We will overnight at a hotel in Cao Bang.

Day 3

Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Quang Uyen (150km/approx. 5 hours)

The journey from Cao Bang to Quang Uyen in Vietnam unfolds as a mesmerizing odyssey, traversing diverse landscapes and cultural realms. Departing from Cao Bang, surrounded in lush greenery and encircled by challenging mountain passes, the motorbike expedition delves into the heart of the Northeast region. The winding roads offer panoramic views of stunning mountainous terrain, providing a captivating backdrop for riders. Encounters with local ethnic groups, including the Tay, Dzao, and Hmong, infuse the journey with the vibrant tapestry of northern Vietnamese life. Serene rice fields and traditional villages dot the route, showcasing the inherent charm of the region. A pivotal highlight is the visit to the awe-inspiring Ban Gioc Waterfall, where crystalline waters cascade down, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The expedition also includes exploration of the Nguom Ngao Cave, adding an adventurous dimension to the journey. Upon reaching Quang Uyen, travelers experience warm hospitality and picturesque landscapes, culminating in a homestay that deepens their connection with the local culture.

Day 4

Quang Uyen – Bac Son (170kms/approx. 6 hours)

After a hearty breakfast, we continue our adventure driving along Highway 4, through a winding road that take us past spectacular mountainous scenery, through steep passes, and unspoiled landscapes. Lang Son stands as the regional capital with notable importance, primarily owing to its strategic location that facilitates convenient trade with China. It is home to many ethnic minority groups such as the Man, Dzao, Nung, and Tho.

This evening we will enjoy at a local hotel.

Day 5

Bac Son – Hanoi (165 km/approx. 5 hours)

Lang Son’s two markets, the Dong Kinh Market and the Old Market, definitely worth visiting. There, you can find practically everything from gadgets and electronics to housewares and textiles; however, we should be careful as there are many counterfeit products. And, if you do not fancy markets much, you can alternatively visit the attractive Mac Dynasty Citadel ruins and the two spellbinding caves, the Tam Thanh Cave and the Nhi Thanh Cave, found only a few kilometers away. The Tam Thanh Cave has a beautiful pond, and you get to see a gorgeous vista of the surrounding cultivated land. At the Nhi Thanh Cave, on the other hand, is an entirely different picture. The man that discovered the cave back in the 18th century, carved poems into its entrance, which give out a more Shakespeare-like effect to the cave, as you walk through it and hear the bubbling river that flows through it. After spending time exploring the area, we have lunch and get ready for the return trip of our motorcycle tour Vietnam. We head back to Hanoi, by taking the modern four-lane highway from Bac Son that gets us down the mountains in no time. Then we drive back to Red River Delta, before we finally reach Ha Noi, where our fascinating trip ends.
